Paper carrier bags – The right environmental choice

On January 1, 2021, it was prohibited to provide free carrier bags when you as a trader sell a product. It must now cost at least DKK 4 per carrier bag, regardless of material and size - and at the same time, the very thin plastic bags will be banned. The initiative is a step towards a greener transition, as a large part of the Danes' plastic waste ends up going up in smoke in large incinerators, which means poor utilization of the resource that they actually are. That's why we here at Karl Lund would like to fight for paper bags that can easily replace the otherwise used plastic carrier bag, and then it can even be reused!

Paper bags – From nature to retail

As a shop owner, it is usually an advantage to be able to offer your customers a bag when they make a purchase. It has a low-practical purpose in that the customer can now transport his newly purchased item from A to B, and at the same time, it can function as a fine advertising column for exactly your brand. If you get your logo printed on your bags, then anyone who buys something from your store will be able to present a nice bag with an even nicer print on it - and that's something that can arouse people's curiosity!

Paper bags – The compostable option

The old plastic bag could only be thrown away when it was no longer usable. If the handle broke or there was a hole in the bag, well, there was little else to do but throw it in the bin. It is precisely here that the road to the incinerators begins. Unlike the plastic bag, a paper bag can be thrown on the compost pile and decompose naturally, as it is based on such a natural material as wood. This makes it an obvious environmentally friendly alternative to the plastic bag.

At the same time, many bags are produced from recycled paper, because it can also be sorted as waste paper. In this way, your carrier bag can be part of a circular system, where we get the opportunity to save on nature's resources.

In addition, the bags are so nice that they are obvious to use as gift bags - either by you, as a retailer, or by your customers who want to reuse their nice bag from you. In this way, a simple paper bag can be given new life.
